SPECIAL EVENT, FILM, AND PHOTOGRAPHY - PERMIT APPLICATIONS

Thank you for your interest in holding a Special Event or filming/photography in the City of Newark.

For Block Parties:

Our goal is to assist residents by helping to ensure that events taking place in our city are safe and successful, while minimizing the impact on communities and residents surrounding the events. A Block Party shall mean an outdoor public event organized by the block or neighborhood residents, place of worship, or a non-profit charitable organization on a city block and held upon a residential city right-of-way, including, but not limited to a residential city street and/or residential sidewalk, for social and/or entertainment purposes for the residents of the designated block. A Block Party shall not include any event commercial in nature. A Block Party with a commercial nature under this ordinance is considered a “Festival.”

To process the Block Party application, the City requires that the application be submitted a minimum of 21 days (3 weeks) prior to the event start date. If you have any questions about the special events application process, call (973) 733-3646 or email specialevents@ci.newark.nj.us.

For Special Events:

A Special Event is any organized activity that occurs, wholly or partially, upon City of Newark Property and requires for its successful execution the provision and coordination of City of Newark Services.
